Your dentist in Fox Island

Fox Island has one road on and one road off: the 1954 span across Hale Passage to Artondale, which Pierce County is now studying replacing. Life on the island organizes itself around that bridge, and dental appointments are no exception. If you have to make a crossing for a cleaning, the appointment ought to be worth the crossing.

We are on the near side of it. Off the bridge, up through Artondale to SR-16, then north to Purdy. One bridge, no ferry, and no Narrows toll, which is not true of most of the options in Tacoma.

Two things worth knowing if you live on the island. Porcelain crowns are scanned and milled in our building, so a crown is one trip rather than two with a temporary in between. And our published hours are short: Monday through Thursday, with Friday closed and Tuesday and Thursday finishing at 3:30. Better to plan around that than to discover it.

Fox Island is Peninsula School District, the same as us. Call (253) 851-4025.

Comfort Dentistry

Nitrous Oxide, Warm Towels and Care for Dental Anxiety

Many people feel anxious before and during dental procedures. It's okay to feel nervous or even fearful when anticipating an appointment. We understand that our patients aren't all the same, and we have great news: You can experience dental treatment in comfort with nitrous oxide commonly called laughing gas.

Clear Correct

ClearCorrect Clear Aligners Instead of Metal Braces

ClearCorrect straightens teeth with a series of clear, removable aligners instead of brackets and wires. It is used for crowding, gaps, and teeth that have drifted since childhood braces. The aligners come out to eat and to brush. An exam and X-rays tell you whether aligners can do what your teeth need.

Tooth Replacement

Implants, Bridges and Dentures for Missing Teeth

Not many years ago, losing a tooth left you with few options for replacement. While permanent teeth should provide a lifetime of function, it doesn't always end up that way. They may be lost from an accident, deep cavities, or gum disease. And since teeth start as a full set, even one missing tooth may disrupt the complex function of chewing, the first step in digestion. As teeth slowly lean and migrate into extra spaces, wear and cracking from excessive forces often create escalating problems.

Extraction, Preservation & Bone Grafting

Tooth Removal with Bone Grafting to Support an Implant

While we focus on helping you maintain your teeth for a lifetime, sometimes certain teeth need to be removed. Wisdom teeth, extra teeth, or very crowded teeth present situations that may mean treatment involving removal. In some cases, severely decayed or cracked teeth, or those missing large amounts of supporting bone leave extraction as the only viable option.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Veneers, Whitening, Crowns and Gum Contouring

Whitening, porcelain veneers, composite fillings, gum contouring, porcelain crowns, ClearCorrect aligners, Botox — cosmetic dentistry is a set of options, not one procedure. Tell Drs. Matt and Justine Priess the one thing you’d change about your smile, and we’ll tell you which of these actually answers it, and in what order.

Family Services

Dentistry for Kids, Teens, Adults and Grandparents

Our team loves helping kids grow into healthy adults. At either end of the age spectrum, the bases are covered. Drs. Matt & Justine Priess know that early experiences influence the value kid's place on their oral health as adults. And they choose to seek or avoid future care by how they're treated now. Rest assured, the bar sits high here.
